Reptiles are a class of animals that is called Reptilian. They have several characteristics like they lay shelled eggs except for a few exceptions, breathe air. The characteristic in the skin is quite noticeable; they have skin which is covered in scutes or scales. This group of animals has a metabolism which is ‘cold blooded'. The number of limbs they have is four and hence they are places in the category of tetrapods. Modern reptiles are found and inhabit almost every continent, but not to forget Antarctica excluded here. They are recognized with the following living orders currently; Crocodilia, Sphenodontia, Squamata and Testudines. Crocodilia has 23 species including gavials, alligators, crocodiles and caimans whereas Sphenodontia has 2 species and include tuataras which are found in New Zealand. Squamata includes some 7900 species approximately and these include Lizards, worm lizards and snakes. Testudines contain some 300 species to be approx including tortoises and turtles.

This knowledge although should be increased with growing age, but kids as they grow up manage so many fields for them to have knowledge that they do not find time for such useful facts.
